The concepts are covered using a top-down approach as proposed in the textbook. The concepts are organized into a set of abstract layers and get a firm understanding of the data-link, network and transport layers. There is also an introduction to useful mathematical tools like probability, statistics and queuing theory, with a focus on how these tools are applied in quantitative modeling and analysis of networks.
